20 Days of Knowledge and fun..

Let me tell you people a story..a real one... which happened a year back. I was sitting and pondering about those days when I was in 12th. Well in that year quite a lot of intriguing incidents took place which brought about significant changes in our lives. One of the best was when all of us in the 2006-2007 batch of BVB got a chance to visit KG Hospital. A year back, as we were about to start our 12th grade, our biology teacher informed us about these projects that we were supposed to do in that year. We were supposed have a hospital visit for 2 days and a dairy farm visit for a day. But our school arranged for us to have the hospital visit for 20 days during the month of May. When we heard about that most of us got irritated and angry about the fact that we won't have any summer vacations while the CSc. students were taken to this camp for few days.
The visit started in the first week of the month. We were split into groups and each group was sent in for each department for 2 days. Then magic played a huge part. In due course of time all of us got really interested in going over there and learning more about how they handle things. Most of us were given opportunities to witness operations also. We all got to know how tough life is over there in a hospital. Each person has to contribute to the functioning a major way. If one does it wrong the whole system becomes erraneous. Hospital is one of the examples of places where miracles can easily be seen.
Four lucky people in our class also got to witness an Open Heart Surgery. Lucky people..... Many of us even got to see Operations like Hernia, Uterus removal and minor operations like those related to tonsils. We also got one whole day to spend at this special eye care branch at Saravanapatti. All of us got see the Cataract Surgery being done which is one of the most delicate operations. Few of us even got to stay in the CT Scan centre where usually nobody other than docs are allowed because of dangerous radiations. But three of us... got to be inside the scanning centre. We were made to wear lead aprons so that we were protected from the rays and we got to see the whole scanning being done. That was cool...
The 20 days not only taught us something more to what we already knew but something else.... much more actually. People working in a hospital need much more than knowledge. They need kindness and patience to attend to patients.
The ending to this visit was a 'Thank you' program arranged by us students during which we had some fun... some dance and singing.... etc etc.....
After those 20 days we had to go to school. But as we started going back again, we felt something to be missing. Well ya ofcourse we missed going over there and learning new things each day.
After that school started in June. And in the month of August we visited the dairy farm which was just for a day. But that was also quite exciting. We were taken to TNAU.. and probably we saw the biggest pig in Coimbatore :D..... We got to learn how they process and pasteurize the milk and all other related things.
Well sorry people I wanted to display a few photos related to the above story... but unfortunately I can't as I don't have those photos in my PC.
Hope you enjoyed this bit from my past.... Lots more to come..
Bye.... :))
